Free Shopify speed test
Enter your store's address once and two free audits run together. The Speed Audit shows how fast your pages are for real shoppers and which apps slow them down. The Value Audit estimates what faster pages could be worth to your store. Nothing to install, no signup.
Test your store
Type your store's address, like yourstore.com. Both reports open together, one tab each.
What this Shopify speed test checks
Speed Audit
How fast your store is, and what is in the way
- Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP and CLS) from Google's Chrome UX Report: what real Chrome users experienced on your store over the last 28 days
- A speed score from Google PageSpeed Insights, for phones and computers
- The third-party apps and scripts that slow your pages down
- Images that are too big or load too late
Value Audit
What faster pages could be worth
- Your whole store's real-shopper speed from Google's Chrome UX Report, plus lab data from Lighthouse
- An estimate of the revenue faster pages could bring back each month
- A simulated page load: as it is today, and with Whoosh
How it works
-
Enter your store's address
One address runs both audits. Type it as you would in a browser, like yourstore.com.
-
Keep browsing
Both audits run in the background. A card in the corner shows how each one is doing. The Speed Audit can take up to 3 minutes.
-
See both reports
When both are ready, the card says so, and the two reports open together, one tab each.

How to read your result
Google judges speed on three Core Web Vitals, measured on real visits at the 75th percentile: a page passes when each one is in the good range for at least three in four visits.
LCP
Largest Contentful Paint
How long the biggest thing on screen, usually the hero or product image, takes to appear.
- Good: 2.5 s or less
- Poor: over 4 s
INP
Interaction to Next Paint
How quickly the page responds when a shopper taps, like Add to cart or opening the menu.
- Good: 200 ms or less
- Poor: over 500 ms
CLS
Cumulative Layout Shift
How much the page jumps while it loads, like a banner pushing the buy button down.
- Good: 0.1 or less
- Poor: over 0.25
Field data and lab data
Field data: real shoppers
From Google's Chrome UX Report: what real Chrome users experienced on your store over the last 28 days. This is the data Google's Core Web Vitals assessment uses. A store with few visits may not have field data yet, and then only lab data shows.
Lab data: one test load
Lighthouse loads one page once, on a simulated mid-range phone with a slower connection. The PageSpeed score out of 100 comes from this test, so phones usually score lower than computers and the score moves a little between runs. Use it to find what is slowing a page, not as the pass mark.
On Shopify, the usual cause of a slow result is third-party apps (chat, reviews, popups and trackers) that load on every page and compete with the main image and with shoppers' taps.
Questions about the speed test
Is the speed test free?
Yes. Both audits are free, with nothing to install and no signup.
Where does the data come from?
From Google. The Speed Audit uses Google PageSpeed Insights and the Chrome UX Report, which is how fast your store really was for Chrome users over the last 28 days. The Value Audit uses the same Chrome UX Report data for your whole store, plus lab data from Lighthouse.
Does the test change anything on my store?
No. It reads your store's public pages and Google's speed data. Nothing is installed and nothing on your store changes.
What is a good Shopify speed test result?
Google counts a page as good when, for at least three in four real visits, LCP is 2.5 seconds or less, INP is 200 milliseconds or less and CLS is 0.1 or less. Those are the field numbers from the Chrome UX Report. The PageSpeed score out of 100 comes from a single lab test, so use it to find causes rather than as a pass or fail.
How long does it take?
Both audits run at the same time while you keep browsing. The Speed Audit can take up to 3 minutes, and a card in the corner tells you when both are ready.
How is the audit different from Whoosh?
The audits measure. Whoosh, the Shopify app, makes the change: it loads the apps shoppers see first, makes the rest wait, and preloads the page a shopper is likely to open next. Plans start at US$99 a month, with a 7-day free trial.
