A store page takes the store's real speed on phones, from Google's Chrome UX Report (75 in 100 visits are faster, last 28 days).
The first page from an ad loads at the store's own speed, with or without Whoosh: Whoosh runs on the store, so it cannot load anything while the shopper is still in Instagram.
Once the shopper is on the store, AI Page Preloading loads the next likely page, here the cart. A preload takes about 40% of a page load, so the cart opens in 0.1 s if it is done by the tap on Add to cart, and a quicker tap waits for the rest of it.
Shopify's checkout is not preloaded: it takes the same 1.5 s in both phones, an estimate.
Your score counts only your own taps: the time from each button showing to your tap, added up and divided by 0.25 s a tap. A tap before a page has loaded adds 0.25 s. Side by side, time you spend on the other phone does not count against this one.

Apps that load smart, not slow.
Load the same product page in two stores. Without Whoosh, every app loads before the product. With Whoosh, the product shows first and the apps follow. Then shop through to the order: your taps drive both stores. Load the same product page in two stores. Without Whoosh, every app loads before the product. Load the page, then shop in either store. The other copies every tap.
Your taps drive both stores. The one without Whoosh copies each tap once its page has loaded, after the same pause you took, so both spend the same time deciding. An extreme example: without Whoosh every app loads before the store's own content. Timings are illustrative; what matters is the order things arrive in. Checkout and payment run on Shopify and take the same time in both.

Pages that feel instant. Because they already loaded.
Shop two stores side by side, one with preloading on. Whoosh preloads the pages a shopper is likely to open next, so they open at once. Every tap you make in one store, the other copies. Shop in either store. The other one copies every tap.
Timings are examples: a store page takes 3.5 s to load. The store that is behind copies each tap after the same pause you took. With preloading on, Whoosh's AI predicts the pages a shopper is likely to open next (popular products, anything they point at, the cart once a product is open) and loads them in the background. That takes less than a normal load, 1.4 s, because the next page reuses the styles, scripts and fonts the shopper already has. A preloaded page opens in 0.1 s. Tap before the preload is done and you wait for the rest of it, while a shopper who looks at the page first gets the next one at once. Checkout and payment run on Shopify and take the same time in both stores.
